Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

My wife and I rented Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close last night and we both enjoyed it, even though almost every scene tore our hearts into pieces. The image above is one of the more uplifting ones, which is probably why it’s my favorite. Those who haven’t seen it probably won’t get it, but I did it on purpose so it won’t give too much away.

I read reviews of the movie after watching it and was surprised to hear that a lot of people thought this film was an exploitation of the tragedy of 9/11. As an artist and moviegoer, I disrespectfully disagree. I thought it was a well-made, moving tribute to anyone who’s experienced grief and to humanity’s innate capacity to reach out to one another. Not to mention great performances by a stellar cast. That said, you need to see this movie! Just have a box of tissues handy.
